These channels are fed by flood waters from hundreds of kilometers/miles to the North and this water usually arrives three to six months after it has fallen. The floods intiate the growth of high quality forage. The channels can fatten cattle when the surrounding ridges are dried and hayed off.
The ridge is dominated by grass species such as (sp?). This dry land is productive for a short time after rain.
Safety backstop for gas venting and testing of yields from the well. These tests can run for a day or more and melt the rocks.
This "satelite well" is a common sight across Queensland. These wells are associated with the large nearby Balera gas refinery.
