Eucalypt woodlands and savanna occur in both the southeastern and southwestern quarters of Australia. This ecotype is slightly more varied topographically than other ecotypes of Australia that are concentrated in either flat or mountainous regions. For example, the Eucalypt woodlands and savanna include the undulating sand plains of the Naracoorte and Swan Coastal Plains in southwestern Australia and the mountains, foothills and valleys of the Mount Lofty Range in South Australia. Precipitation is highly variable (220 - 900 mm [9-35 in] per year) throughout this ecotype given its varying topography and geographic spread across the southern portion of Australia.
