Australia and New Zealand Tropical Eucalypt Savanna

Tropical eucalypt savanna spreads across the entire northern coastline of Australia passing through the states of Queensland, Northern Territory and Western Australia. Darwin stringybark (Eucalyptus tetrodonta) and Darwin woolybutt (E. miniata) are the dominant tree species in the savanna and woodland structures throughout this region. Understory vegetation is most commonly comprised of tall grass species, such as Sorghum, Themeda, and Aristida, though spinifex hummock grasses (Plectrachne pungens) and golden beard grass (Chrysopogon fallax) also exist as understory in some areas. Patches of tea tree (Melaleuca spp) woodland exist in various locations throughout the tropical eucalypt savanna.
