Sand dune field covered in Spinifex Triodia spp.
Snapshots:
A rabbit? burrow with some dung scattered around the entrance.
This fog is common in the morning, but receded by 9 o'clock when this gigapan was taken.
Spinifex (Triodia pungens) is an example of hummock grass. Notice the right hand side of the snapshot. The inter-hummock space can produce annual herbage after periods of significant rain. Spinifex has a high terpene content and burns with a high flame height and black smoke.
