Australia and New Zealand Eucalypt Open Forest

Eucalypt open forests are located in the southwestern tip of Australia just south of Perth, Western Australia. These open forest-woodland systems are dominated by jarrah (Eucalyptus marginata) and karri (Eucalyptus calophylla) forest compositions. The area experiences a cool Mediterranean climate with a distinct summer drought period. Rainfall in the area is relatively high compared to interior Australia with annual rainfall varying between 650 mm (26 in) and 1,400 mm (55 in). The region is typical of Mediterranean climates in that it hosts a high diversity and endemism of plant species.
