Shrublands of Eurasia are dispersed from the coast of Spain to the Middle East and through central Asia to Mongolia and China. Soils in these regions are characteristic of arid profiles, such as solonchaks and solonetzs of central Asia and shallow sandy rendzinas of southern Spain. Shrub species are most commonly contained within the genus Artemisia, Kochia, Rhamnus, Juniperus, Quercus and Atriplex.
